My name is Mitzi Lyle, and I am a qualified translator (I passed the Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation in 2005). I have several years of professional experience under my belt, working as a freelance translator and proofreader for a number of satisfied clients and agencies around the world. I am of British nationality and have lived, studied and worked in France and England. I will be happy to supply references from satisfied customers on request.
About Me
I am a qualified, experienced professional translator. I am based in the UK and English is my native language. I have also spent time living in France, where I completed several years of my secondary education. I therefore have an instinctive feel for both English and French, as well as the high standard of writing you would expect from a professional. Thanks to my relatively low overheads, I am able to offer this translation service at a very reasonable price.
Expertise and experience
After graduating from the University of Sussex, I worked in the publishing and media industries, including several years as a subtitler working on programmes for the BBC. Translation had always appealed to me, so after passing the Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation at City University, I became a full-time freelance translator.
My main areas of expertise include marketing, IT, tourism, arts and culture. Recent jobs include translating Microsoft Office guides for a French software publisher, text for Paris Town Hall’s website, and a white paper on records management for the International Records Management Trust. I am also available to translate more general business correspondence, letters, CVs etc.

Services and pricing
Translation
My translations are priced per source text word – this means per French word in the text you need translating into English.
I do not publish rates online for confidentiality reasons. However,
I am able to offer very competitive rates due to my low overheads. Please contact me for current prices.
Regarding delivery, I would generally allow one working day per 2,500 words.

Proofreading
My proofreading rates are generally 50% of my translation rates.
Transcription
For audio/video transcription, I charge per hour worked, again at competitive rates.
